Cry No More

Cry until there are no more tears for today
Feel the space when tears have spent their way
Breathe the air that’s strong with little strength
Feel the tiny newness of a second’s gasp of hope

Wrap yourself with your arms to fill the missing
Press them firm against your grief and loss
Let the feel of feelings find their archive
Not to disappear but be not at shallow thought

At every moment lined with good and rescue
Lunge to soak and grip for most effect
As the weights of error tip to drown you
Push like hell to drive them back and hold

Wake and feel the sadness new again
And want for it to pass and go away
The course of day will give its shape to navigate
And I must fight the dream to float away

Night and cry again and then the morning
Wake and feel the sadness new again
But less this time by millimetre measure
Until the living forward beats the past
